CAIDOV Mourns NLC Secretary General, Emmanuel Ugboaja

The Centre Against Injustice and Domestic Violence (CAIDOV) has expressed deep sorrow over the death of the Secretary General of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Emmanuel Ugboaja.

In a condolence statement, Executive Director of CAIDOV, Gbenga Soloki, described Ugboaja’s death as a major loss to the Nigerian labour movement and the country.

Soloki said the late labour leader was a committed trade unionist who devoted his life to advancing the welfare, dignity and rights of Nigerian workers.

“We received the news of the passing of Comrade Ugboaja with sadness. He was a committed trade unionist who dedicated his life to the welfare and dignity of Nigerian workers. His commitment to fairness, dialogue, and justice will be remembered,” he said.

According to him, the struggle for justice in the workplace is closely connected to the fight for justice within the home and society.

“At CAIDOV, we understand that the struggle for justice in the workplace and the struggle for justice in the home are connected. The late Secretary General stood for the protection of vulnerable persons and the rights of workers. That legacy must be sustained,” Soloki added.

On behalf of the Board, Management and Staff of CAIDOV, Soloki extended condolences to the NLC President, National Administrative Council, National Executive Council, affiliates and the entire membership of the labour congress.

He also sympathised with the immediate family of the deceased, praying that Almighty God would grant them and the NLC the strength and fortitude to bear the loss.

Soloki prayed for the peaceful repose of Ugboaja’s soul and assured the NLC of CAIDOV’s solidarity during the difficult period.

“CAIDOV stands in solidarity with the NLC at this difficult time,” he said.
