Bye-election: Refrain from voting Labour Party – Obi warns supporters

The former Presidential candidate of Labour Party, Peter Obi has called on his supporters to refrain from voting for the Labour Party, in tomorrow’s bye-elections in 16 states of the federation.
Obi explained the party’s internal disputes have resulted in none of its candidates being officially recognized by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The former governor of Anambra State shared this update in a post on his X handle on Thursday.
The by-elections are scheduled to take place on August 16, 2025, in 16 states across the federation, covering two senatorial districts, five federal constituencies, and nine state assembly seats.
Addressing his supporters, Obi stated: “Please be aware that the Labour Party currently has no INEC-recognized candidates due to ongoing internal issues.
“I respectfully encourage all members of the Obidient movement and COPDEM family to participate actively by voting for the coalition party, African Democratic Congress (ADC), in their various states.”
