Buni Okays Township Roads, Drainage Projects in Five Yobe LGAs

Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, has approved the construction of township roads and drainage systems in Tarmuwa, Bursari, Machina, Nangere, and Yusufari local government areas as part of his government’s rural infrastructure drive.
The Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Ibrahim Jajere, disclosed this during an inspection tour of ongoing projects in Jakusko, Karasuwa, and Fika councils.
He explained that under the first phase of the programme, 22 kilometers of roads and 44 kilometers of drainage will be delivered across 11 local government headquarters, with each council benefitting two kilometers of asphalt road and four kilometers of drainage.
Jajere praised the quality of work in Fika, Damagum, Jakusko, and Karasuwa but urged contractors in Gulani and Yunusari to stick to specifications. He described the governor’s focus on rural infrastructure as a strategic move to close development gaps, ease transportation, reduce flooding risks, and strengthen grassroots governance.
The commissioner stressed that the ministry’s monitoring framework would ensure compliance with standards, timelines, and budgets, adding that the administration is committed to delivering projects that directly impact citizens’ welfare.
The inspection team also visited Nguru to assess the remodeling of the Government Lodge, ongoing works at Jajere modern motor park, and an integrated shopping complex designed to boost local commerce.
