Buhari to finally preside over FEC meeting after days of public absence
Just back from rest, President Muhammadu Buhari is to preside over the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting which holds today, Wednesday, May 3, 2017.
Daily Trust reports that the president’s itinerary for this week confirms that he is scheduled to preside over the FEC meeting billed to hold at 11:00 am inside the Council Chambers of the Aso Rock Presidential Villa, Abuja.
“All is now set for Mr President to preside over tomorrow’s (today’s meeting of the Federal Executive Council. I can confirm to you very strongly that Mr President will be at the Council Chambers for FEC meeting tomorrow (today),” the report quoted a source as saying.
The president had been absent from the two last FEC meetings while Lai Mohammed, the minister of Information said the president was having some rest.
Buhari resumed office on Tuesday, May 2 and received briefings from the Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, and the Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Maikanti Baru.
The two officials confirmed that they briefed the president on issues concerning their respective offices.
According to Baru, Buhari was briefed on fuel supply across the country, crude oil and gas productions as well as the ability of the NNPC to supply gas to the power sector.
He put the current production at two million barrels per day.
