Buhari exits Eagle Square, heads for Daura
Former President Muhammadu Buhari’s eight-year occupancy of the Presidential Villa by virtue of his being the President has ended with the swearing in of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu as his successor and 16th President of Nigeria.
Clad and resplendent in a white Babaringa with a cap to match with his wife, Aisha and son, Yusuf, beside him, Buhari stepped into a waiting executive vehicle that drove him and his immediate family members to the airport for the homebound flight.
It was an inevitable end to a journey that started on May 29, 2015.
Sighted at the airport were the presidential sposkespersons-Femi Adesina and Garba Shehu- and some of his minister, including the Hajia Sadiyya Umar Sadique, former minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Dr Chris Ngige, former minister of Labour and Employent, Mrs Sharon Ikeazor, former minister of state for Environment and, of course, the former First Lady, Aisha Buhari.
Once Buhari arrives at the airpot, he would inspect a guard of honour before flying out to Daura.
THE CONCLAVE reports that a plane had already taken off to Daura with memebrs of the family of the former President Buhari.
As it is now, President Bola Tinubu is effectively in charge of the nation’s affairs, having assumed the command room as president and commander-in-chief of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
He has already moved around the VIP lounge to profusely thank guests, including presidents of nations and delegations of countries, for gracing the occasion.
The inauguration rituals are ongoing.
