Bright Samuel made wild Dogs Bite dust in Bissau

By Kunle Awosiyan

Five changes on Monday and the Super Eagles bounced back for a sweet revenge against the Wild Dogs of Guinea Bissau.

We will praise Jose Peseiro if we see his good work and blame him when he fumbles.

On Monday, his changes worked for the three-time African champion. The team dominated the midfield and created many chances of which it could only convert one.

Victor Osimhen was not lucky as he hit the base of the bar. For me, the game was won for the Eagles by Bright Osayi-Samuel, the Nigeria’s right full back.

This eagle’s consistence overlap and runs into the 18 yard box of the dogs gave Nigeria the penalty, which Simon Moses magically converted in the 29th minutes.

With yesterday’s earlier formation without Wilfred Ndidi, Kelechi Iheanacho, Ademola Lookman, Super Eagles looked more decent and stronger.

However, another Samuel, Chukwueze, was a bad contributor yesterday. He was selfish and wasteful.

Peseiro will have to check him or else, Chukwueze may cause a bigger damage to the Eagles in the future. No doubt, he is a talent but a bad team player in the green-white-green colour.

Chukwueze had the opportunity to make Osimhen shine yesterday but on three occasions, he refused to pass the ball to him, why?

Thanks to Alex Iwobi for bringing his “A” game yesterday, a few of his passes could not get to Osimhen, perhaps because the striker was too eager to score. Most times Osimhen moved faster than the ball.

Overall it was a good display as Nigeria claimed back to top the table.

Congrats Eagles.
