The burial of former Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, has been rescheduled to Tuesday, July 15, 2025. This update was confirmed by Katsina State Deputy Governor, Lawal Jobe.

Speaking to reporters in Daura on Monday afternoon, Jobe explained that the postponement was made to ensure proper preparations and better coordination for the arrival of dignitaries.

“The burial of former President Muhammadu Buhari has now been fixed for Tuesday,” he stated during a brief interaction with the press.

Jobe, who arrived at Buhari’s residence in Daura at around 11:27 a.m., said his visit was to personally inspect the ongoing arrangements for the final rites.

“I came to assess the level of preparedness myself,” he added.

Although no official statement was issued on the specific reason for the delay, sources within the Presidency cited logistical adjustments and the travel schedules of key mourners as likely reasons.

President Buhari, who died at 82, will be laid to rest in accordance with Islamic traditions in his hometown of Daura, Katsina State.
