Breaking: Over 107 victims of Jigawa tanker explosion given mass burial

The Jigawa State Government has given over 107 victims of tanker explosion mass burial.

The governor of Jigawa State Malam Umar Namadi, his deputy Engr. Aminu Gumel, Speaker of the state house of assembly Rt. Honourable Haruna Aliyu Dan Gyatin were among those who attended the funeral prayer for the dead.

The funeral prayer was led by the chief imam of government house Malam Salisu Muhammad Gumel.

Shortly after the funeral prayer while speaking with newsmen, governor Namadi prayed for the repose of the souls of the departed and directed that any injuries beyond the capacity of the state’s general hospitals should be referred to tertiary hospitals, with the government assuming full responsibility for the treatment of all the injured.

He also assured that the government will provide support to the families of the victims of the tragedy.

A petrol tanker had an accident at Majiya town in Taura Local government area of Jigawa State. The tanker is conveying petrol to Yobe State.

Accident happened around 11:45 pm yesterday and people of Majiya town and some villages around the place came out to siphon the fuel and in the course of that, fire started and consumed many.

As at the time of filing this report As of now, 107 people died while 110 were hospitalized.
