Breaking: Ignore El-Rufai’s threat, you’re safe, Buhari tells foreign observers

President Muhammadu Buhari has assured foreign observers of their safety in the February 16, 2019 election.

He said this during a live broadcast aired on The Nigeria Television Authority (NTA) on Thursday.

During the broadcast, he told Nigerians that it is their constitutional right to vote.

He debunked the insinuation that the Federal Government was promoting violence.

He said: “It is your constitutional right to vote. This government will do its very best to ensure that the election takes place in a peaceful atmosphere. I ask you to come out and fulfil this obligation.

“I reaffirm the commitment of the FG to a free and fair election. I assure Nigeria, diplomatic and foreign observers of their safety. Any threat made does not represent the position of the FG.

“I urge Nigerians to take personal efforts in promoting peace in all sections. I appeal to the youths not to allow themselves to be used to cause disruption.”

It will be recalled that Governor Nasir El-Rufai earlier threatened that foreign countries who interfere in Nigeria’s election would return in “body bags”.
