BREAKING: I won’t appear before you on Wednesday – Customs boss, Ali informs Senate
The Comptroller General of Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, Col. Hameed Ali (rtd), on Tuesday told the senate that he would not appear before them lawmakers on Wednesday.
Ali in a letter to the senate which was read on the floor of the Upper Legislative Chambers on Tuesday explained that his decision not to appear before the lawmakers was because it coincides with the routine management of the NCS.
The Customs boss asked the upper chamber of the National Assembly fix another date for his appearance.
Nigerian Senate has summoned the Customs Comptroller-General, demanding that he appear before the house in his uniform.
The Senate had ordered the Customs Service to stop its plan to seize all vehicles with unpaid import duty.
But the Customs said it would go ahead with its plan despite the resolution of the lawmakers.
