Breaking: Gombe PDP in trouble as campaign DG defects to APC
The ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Gombe state is said to be experiencing one of its greatest shock following the defection of the Director-General of its campaign organization, Alhaji Bala Bello Tinka to the opposition All Progressive Party (APC).
The State Party Youth leader, Alhaji Baba Sani Sakali, is also said to have tendered his resignation as the party’s youth leader and also announced his defection to the All Progressive party (APC) this Friday, a situation which has caused confusion and panic in the camp of the PDP.
This is also as President Muhammadu Buhari is being expected on a campaign rally to the State on Saturday, 2nd of February and also receive decempees to the party.
A reliable source had confirmed to our correspondent that Alhaji Bala Bello is no more with the PDP adding that he is being expected to fly back to Gombe tomorrow Saturday (02/02/2019) in accompany of President Muhammadu Buhari to be officially received to the APC during the President’s campaign rally of the State.
However, the People’s Democratic Party Chairman in the State, Joel Adamu Jagafa, had during a press briefing Friday morning announced that it had relieved Alhaji Bala Bello Tinka, its 2019 campaign DG of his appointment.
A statement by the Party Chairman revealed that the sacking of Alhaji Bala Bello from the campaign organization was with immediate effect following the discovery of Bala Tinka’s name in the list released by INEC of Governorship candidates of Gombe state in the 2019 election under the DPP.
According to the statement, “The attention of the People’s Democratic Party has been drawn to the publication by the Independent national Electoral Commission (INEC) of 2019 general election list of candidates.
“The subject list has number 29, Alhaji Bala Bello Tinka as Governorship candidate of Democratic People’s Party (DPP) whom hitherto was the Director-General of the 2019 Gombe state campaign of the party.
“This is a breach of section 10(1) and 58(1) of the People’s Democratic Party constitution (2017 as amended). In view of the foregoing, Alhaji Bala Bello has been relieved of his appointment as Director-General of the 2019 campaign with immediate effect”, the statement said.
