Breaking: DSS stops US lawyer, others from visiting Kanu

The Department of State Services (DSS) has been accused of stopping lawyers from the United States and others from seeing the leader of proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu.

According to a statement made on Friday by Ifeanyi Ejiofor, the lawyer to IPOB, said that the State Security Services’ stoppage of the visit on Knau was ‘extremely ridiculous’.

He said that they had been consistently visiting Kanu on specific days and time of the week, and there hasn’t been any time they were denied access to him on the ground that an individual assigned to receive us was not available.

But on Thursday Mr. Bruce Fein, a foremost American trained Constitutional Law Lawyer and IPOB’s Attorney in the United States of America was in Nigeria to see the IPOB leader but the DSS denied him visiting by saying that “that the person assigned to receive Fein and others were on a ‘special assignment.’

He lamented that despite formal notification to the DSS, in line with the existing protocol, and in compliance with the Court-Ordered guideline, the officials of the DSS came up with an excuse hence Fein and others’ visit cannot be conducted.

Ejiofor said: “Yesterday (Thursday’s) Court ordered visit to Our Client- Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu was aborted by the officials of the State Security Services on a reason we find extremely ridiculous.

“Following the arrival of Mr. Bruce Fein, a foremost American trained Constitutional Law Lawyer and IPOB’s Attorney in the United States of America, the game obviously took an interesting twist.
