Senator Dino Melaye, one of the leading All Progressive Congress (APC) members, who was MC during the campaign that brought President Muhammadu Buhari to power, has left the APC to join the PDP.
Senator Melaye announced his defection on the floor of the Senate on today.
Since the coming of the APC to power there has been power tussle between the leader of the senate and the executive. Senator Melaye pitched tent with the Senate President, and since then he has been target of powers of the executive. He has also been a critic of the administration.
Recently he was was arrested at the Abuja airport on his way to attend some function outside the country. Senator Melaye was being taken to Kogi State where he was been accused of arming some gangs when he jumped off the police van and injured himself. He had told the police that his life was not safe in Kogi State over personal problems he has with Governor Yahaya Bello who is a ardent supporter of President Buhari.
