BREAKING: Court sends ex-Abuja Minister Bala Mohammed to prison
A Federal Capital Territory, FCT, High Court, on Wednesday remanded a former FCT Minister, Bala Mohammed, in Kuje Prison over allegations of fraud.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, had arraigned Mohammed on a six-count charge for allegedly using his office as then Minister to collect gratification to the tune of N550 million.
Mohammed, who was also accused of failing to declare properties belonging to him, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The presiding judge, Abubakar Talba, after taking Mohammed’s plea, adjourned the matter till May 12 for ruling on the application for bail.
Talba, consequently ordered that the defendant be remanded in prison custody pending the determination of the bail application.
