Brazilian football legend Pele collapses, hospitalised
Brazilian football legend Pele is recuperating in a hospital after collapsing from exhaustion on Thursday.
Pele was due to travel to London this weekend for a dinner held in his honour by the Football Writers Association.
The FWA in a statement said the football legend has โundergone a series of tests which appear to point to severe exhaustion.
โHe is on fluids while doctors monitor his recovery. Thankfully there is no suggestion of anything more serious.โ
Pele, bornย Edson Arantes do Nascimento, is widely regarded as the greatest player of all time.
He helped his country win the 1958, 1962 and 1970 World Cups and was named Fifaโs Player of the Century.
