Boss Mustapha denies membership of ADC
Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha, has dismissed as “fake news” reports claiming he has left the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for the opposition coalition, African Democratic Congress (ADC).
In a statement released on Sunday, Mustapha — who served as SGF from 2017 to 2023 under former President Muhammadu Buhari — stated that the allegation is completely untrue and that he has not held any discussions with members of the opposition or their coalition partners.
“My attention has been drawn to a circulating news story linking me to the opposition alliance and their adoption of the ADC as their political party. This is fake news. I am not part of any opposition alliance and I am not in talks with anyone involved,” he said.
Mustapha emphasised that he remains a principal founding member of the APC and has no intention of abandoning the party he helped establish. While acknowledging that the APC, like any political organisation, faces challenges, he insisted that the way forward is to work from within rather than defect.
He urged the public to disregard any such rumours.
In July, Mustapha had also countered the popular belief that one individual was solely responsible for Buhari’s 2015 presidential victory, noting that Buhari already commanded over 12 million votes before the merger of legacy parties, which contributed only about three million votes.
