Boko Haram invades home of police officer in targeted attack in Yobe

Suspected Boko Haram militants launched a targeted attack on the residence of a senior police officer in Yobe State in the early hours of Monday, 9 December.

Sources confirmed that the assailants stormed the home of ASP Mohammed Modu, Officer-in-Charge of Tattaba Out Station under the Bara Division in Gulani Local Government Area, at about 1:30 a.m.

The gunmen reportedly invaded three houses belonging to the officer, carting away valuable property, including a Haojue motorcycle, three bicycles, a Golf 3 vehicle and other personal items.

After looting the premises, the attackers set the three houses ablaze along with a Honda Civic car parked on the property.

Preliminary reports suggest the operation was aided by an informant within the community who allegedly coordinated with the terrorists and provided details that facilitated the attack.

Security personnel were deployed to the scene shortly after the assault to assess and document the extent of the destruction. No casualties were reported.

Authorities have advised ASP Modu to maintain heightened vigilance, while security patrols have been intensified across the area to prevent possible follow-up attacks and reassure residents of their safety.

The incident adds to concerns about the continued presence of insurgent elements in remote parts of Yobe and the threat they pose to security personnel and local communities.
