Bishop Adesanya-Davies Mourns the Home-Going of Popular Port Harcourt General Overseer, Dr. Adamson Aromaegbe
Bishop Professor Adesanya-Davies has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Dr. Adamson Aromaegbe, the Founder and General Overseer of The Rock Word Church and Dominion International, who transitioned into glory on Friday, August 21, 2026.
In a statement made available to the press, Bishop Adesanya-Davies described the late cleric as “a faithful servant of God, visionary leader, teacher, mentor and Kingdom builder whose life and ministry touched countless lives.”
‘We were friends and brethren in our youthful days before we all came to Port Harcourt Rivers State Nigeria to start ministries.
“I can remember those days at D-Line, Port Harcourt in 1989 – How time flies!” – Sis. Funmilayo Adesanya-Davies added.
“Dr. Aromaegbe was a burning light in Port Harcourt and across Nigeria. His passion for the Word, his compassion for the broken, and his unwavering commitment to building the Kingdom will be sorely missed,” Bishop Adesanya-Davies said. “Though we deeply miss his physical presence, we rejoice in the hope we have in Christ and celebrate a life well lived, a race well run, and a legacy that will continue for generations”.
The church announced Dr. Aromaegbe’s passing in a statement issued on Sunday, August 23, 2026 by Rev. Nnamdy Echezona and published on the ministry’s Facebook page. According to the statement, the Port Harcourt-based gospel preacher died on Friday, and details concerning his funeral and “Celebration of Life” ceremony will be announced in due course.
Bishop Adesanya-Davies urged the body of Christ, members of Rock Word Church, Dominion International, and all well-wishers to please uphold the bereaved family, the church leadership, and the entire Dominion International family in prayers during this season of mourning.
“The vision lives on. The Word lives on. The Kingdom advances,” the statement from Rock Word Church affirmed, a conviction Bishop Adesanya-Davies said she fully shares.
Quoting 2 Timothy 4:7 in honor of the late pastor — “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith” — Bishop Adesanya-Davies added:
“Dr. Aromaegbe fought well. He finished strong. And he kept the faith to the end. May his soul rest in perfect peace, and may God comfort all who mourn him.”
The late Pastor (Dr.) Adamson Aromaegbe—founder and General Overseer of The Rock Word Church and Dominion International in Port Harcourt, Nigeria—is survived by his wife, Pastor Chinwe Aromaegbe and children,
close ministry associates and family friend. Following his sudden passing at the age of 69 on Friday, August 21, 2026, the church leadership urged the public to remember his wife, children, and the extended family in their prayers.
