Atiku makes it official, registers as ADC member in Yola

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has officially defected to a new political platform. He has announced his entry into the African Democratic Congress (ADC), marking what is shaping up to be one of the most significant political shifts ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Abubakar revealed his new affiliation on Monday via a post on X, where he also shared photos showing him receiving his ADC membership card along with a customised “Waziri 01” jersey.

The registration event, though brief, carried strong symbolic weight. Held in Yola, the Adamawa State capital, it attracted a large turnout of supporters, party leaders, and community figures who gathered to witness the moment.

In the shared images, Abubakar is pictured displaying his membership form as enthusiastic supporters captured the scene.
“It’s official. – AA,” he wrote, bringing to an end months of speculation about his next political move following his exit from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), where he had long been a prominent leader.

His move to the ADC comes shortly after reports suggested he intended to finalise his new political direction during his birthday visit to Adamawa—a trip that also included several community outreach activities.
