As President, Jonathan signed documents he couldn’t remember signing – Tony Momoh
Prince Tony Momoh, a former Minister of Information, on Thursday said former President Goodluck Jonathan was not aware of happenings around him when he presided over the affairs of the country.
Speaking in a chat with INDEPENDENT from the United Kingdom (UK), Momoh, one of the national leaders of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) also faulted the claim by Jonathan in his book that corruption has worsened since Buhari’s government took over almost four years ago.
According to him, while Jonathan initiated a lot of laudable programmes, he couldn’t implement them because he lacked the political will to do so.
“The fact is that Buhari’s records in fighting corruption is unprecedented in the annals of Nigeria’s politics and return to civil rule. Even the Treasury Single Account (TSA) that Jonathan started, he didn’t implement it. He didn’t have the political will to implement a lot of things”.
“Recovering money is exercise of political will. The fact is the money has always been there. But there is no political will on the part of Jonathan to back EFCC. That is what Buhari has been doing now with EFCC,” he said.
