APC is a concoction that is not good for  ailment- Senator Makarfi

Senator Ahmed Makarfi, one of the front line presidential aspirants of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), for the 2019 general elections has described All Progressives Congress (APC) as a concoction that is not good for ailment.

Senator Makarfi stated this when he visited the PDP secretariat, Benin City, on Monday as part of his campaign tour to intimate the party members of his willingness to contest as the party flag bearer at the forthcoming PDP presidential primary later in the year.

The party former National Chairman, who steered the party out of the stormy water during its turbulent period that lasted over two years noted that he would maintain a policy of full disclosure of all incomes and expenditure by the federal government.

He said: “APC is a concoction, that is not good for any ailment. I was offered Senator by APC in Kaduna but i rejected it because of the overall interest of our party.

“I have worked for the party, and the party is bigger than any individual. I never left the party as I believe every good gift is from God. I opposed giving the chairmanship to Senator Ali-Modu Sheriff at the time.

“I am happy that I was available to rescue the party. I did not suddenly decide to run for presidency, but has always been my interest. The presidency is not about money. PDP, needs a good product, and if it does pick a good one, Nigerians will rally round such a product.

“I could not have excelled as caretaker chairman without the support of all party members. I do not believe that for the role I played, I should be the sole candidate of the party for the presidency.

“I am going round the country by road to see the nation’s problems and to have first hand information rather than flying.”

Meanwhile, he outlined his programmes if elected as president to include addressing the issue of restructuring of Nigeria, and that of insecurity across Nigeria.

“Security is not a political issue- book haram, herdsmen/communities, criminalities. Equipment of security agencies and giving them targets.

“To address the issue of generation and distribution of power. Remove leakages in power distribution. Localization of power generation and giving extra to national grid, as well as to stop politicizing fight against corruption,” he said.

On his part, Edo PDP Chairman, Chief Dan Orbih said: “We want to make a passionate appeal to all aspirants coming to Edo to speak to issues and not seek to run each other down.”
