APC Governors Inspect E-Registration Facilities, Reaffirm Party Unity

As the All Progressives Congress (APC) prepares to roll out its nationwide electronic membership registration, three members of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF), led by its chairman, Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State, on Tuesday inspected the party’s data centre at its National Secretariat in Abuja.

The delegation, which also included Governor Usman Ododo of Kogi State and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State, expressed satisfaction with the level of readiness for the digital registration drive. Governor Uzodimma said the visit was aimed at assessing the progress of the e-registration project.

“We came to monitor and evaluate the extent of the e-registration exercise. After touring the facilities, we are highly impressed with what we saw. We are confident that the exercise will commence in full force very soon,” Uzodimma told journalists.

On President Bola Tinubu’s directive to build a new APC national secretariat, the PGF chairman said simply, “Work is in progress.”

Speaking on the recent appointment of Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda as APC National Chairman, Uzodimma was upbeat: “Look at him—handsome, tall, full of energy and intelligence. Our party is very excited and happy with the choice. We believe this is what we’ve been looking for.”

He also dismissed comments by the African Democratic Congress (ADC) that it would be disastrous for the APC to retain power after the next general elections. “It’s just their claim. I know there are only two parties in Nigeria: the All Progressives Congress and Others,” he quipped.

In his remarks, National Chairman Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda praised the cordial relationship between the party leadership and the PGF, describing the APC as a model of unity and internal democracy.

“Our relationship with the PGF is very cordial. We are exemplary in how we conduct ourselves at NEC meetings, in how governors relate with the party, and in how members at all levels engage,” Yilwatda said.

He added that the e-registration initiative will strengthen the party’s base nationwide by using technology to identify, engage, and support members. “This exercise will help us with research and enable us to accurately gauge our support base,” he noted.
