Anxiety As Participants Await Return Of MMM
The atmosphere is charged with hope, expectations, anxiety and uncertainty as participants of Marvordi Mundial Moneybox also referred to as MMM await its return from its 30 days recess.
The management of the Ponzi scheme had on the 12th December announced a 30 day freezing of account to avoid a breakdown of the scheme, stating that the people asking for help outweighs the number for participants providing help which may tantamount to a total collapse of the scheme.
“As usual, in the New Year season the System is experiencing heavy workload. Moreover, it has to deal with the constant frenzy provoked by the authorities in the mass media. The things are still going well; the participants feel calm; everyone gets paid – as you can see, there haven’t been any payment delays or other problems yet – but!.. it is better to avoid taking risk. Moreover, there are almost three weeks left to the New Year.
“Hence, on the basis of the above mentioned, from now on all confirmed Mavro will be frozen for a month.
“The reason for this measure is evident. We need to prevent any problems during the New Year season, and then, when everything calms down, this measure will be cancelled. (Which we will definitely do)” MMM said.
Most participants had joined the scheme to raise funds as a financial buffer for the Christmas and New Year celebrations, a situation that caused some much withdrawal from the scheme in preparation for the Yuletide which led to the freezing of all accounts till the festive periods are over.
Available reports showed that over 3 million Nigerians participate in the scheme with a transaction volume of N5 Billion.
The House of Representatives had in November 20016 through a motion moved by Hon. Fijabi, called for an investigation into the scheme in order to protect innocent Nigerians from being swindled by internet scammers but it also seems that most Nigerians are undeterred by this including the caution from the Central Bank of Nigeria as well as other agencies pointing out the dangers of participating in such a scheme.
One of the 3+ guider in the scheme confirmed to Daily Times that there was an online briefing last Wednesday from the management of the Scheme re-assuring them that all frozen mavro will be released soon. He also said that they were told to look out for new mode of operations which will be published in the MMM website on Saturday morning.
Another 5k guider in the scheme, J. C. Xpert told our reporter that a new page called ‘Promo Task’ was also created to strengthen the scheme as well as assist participants to market the programme more effectively using the social media so as to increase the number of participants. He added that a new programme in the scheme which deals with providing help with Bitcoin, a Crypto-currency was also added to provide more alternatives for participants.
Meanwhile some participants have cursed the day they registered in the scheme and have given up hope on a possible re-activation of the programme despite all available pointers, saying that they are false hope which will keep Nigerians hopeful while they tidy all their loot and relocate to other countries.
A participant narrated how he was swindled of over N500, 000 by a similar scheme in Calabar sometimes ago, adding that the same antics being put up by MMM was similar to what obtained then until it became obvious that the funds were un-recoverable after and an endless wait just as he vowed never be lured into such a scheme in the future even if MMM eventually lives true to its words.
However, one obstacle the management of the Ponzi scheme will find herculean is the investigation which will be conducted by the House of Representative on the legality of the scheme, and it might lead to a possible clamp down on the programme if the House is not satisfied with its modus operandi.
One thing that is obvious is that all MMM participants cannot wait to see Saturday to know their fate.
