Another top military official dies of COVID-19 complications

Admiral Joe Aikhomu, who retired as the Chief of Administration of Nigerian Navy has died in Abuja in the early hours of Thursday morning as a result of COVID-19 complications.

A serially-decorated Admiral well-versed in maritime operations and logistics, with special reference to the waters of the Gulf of Guinea, Aikhomu, who clocked 65 last year was until his death a Director in Ocean Marine Solutions (OMS) owned by Captain Hosa Okunbo.

He was conferred with a traditional title by the Okaijesan of Esanland and Ojirrua of Irrua, HRH Alhaji W.O. Momodu JP in August 2020.

He was also a member of the investigative panel set up by President Muhammadu Buhari to probe arms procurement between 2007 and 2015.
The panel was disbanded in February 2017
