Anambra polls: Senator Andy Uba leads 40 senators to pick APC ticket

Senator Andy Uba has picked up the ticket to contest the governorship election in Anambra state.

The senator representing Anambra South Senatorial District is one of the leading aspirants of the APC for the election.

He was accompanied to the APC national secretariat to pick up his form of interest by 40 senators in the upper chamber.

Among the senators present at the event were Senator Dino Melaye, Senator Bayero Nafada, Senator Monsurat Sunmonu and Senator Shehu Sani.

Others are Senator John Enoh, Senator Francis Alikemena and Senator Uche Ekwunife. Speaking at the brief event, Senator Uba expressed confidence that he will win the APC primaries and the governorship election.

He stated that he is the only politician who has strong and existing structures in the state.

He also used the opportunity to dispel rumours that he is about decamping to the Peoples Democratic Party.

The senator was given his form by the organizing secretary of the APC, Senator Osita Izunaso, who advised Senator Uba and all other aspirants to eschew violence as the primary election approaches.

Uba said: “We are 40 senators including myself 41 of us, we are here to pick up my nomination form for the governorship of Anambra state which is for November 18, 2017. That is why I am here.

“If you look at all of us that are running, who has the best chance? Who has the experience? I have been a governor in Anambra state before, two, I have been senator two times. I have my structure in the state. I don’t see why I can win the election.

“Those that are running, I have not heard anything they have done, they have not won election and they are not prepared to win election. We need somebody with capacity and i know that we have that capacity to remove the sitting governor,” Uba said.
