Amosun begins sack of APC loyalists in his cabinet

Ogun state governor, Ibikunle Amosun on Friday began a massive sack  of APC loyalists in his cabinet in what political analysts described as a “gale of targeted purge” engineered under the guise of voluntary resignation because the affected people are seeking elective office in the next dispensation

But Alternativeafrica.com can exclusively report that the massive purge only affected those considered to be APC loyalists in his cabinet who have refused to defect to his new political platform, Allied People’s Movement, APM

Those forced to resign include his Chief of Staff, Tolu Odebiyi, Commissioner for Sport, Afolabi Afuape, as well as Special Advisers like Bayo Adeyemi, Lanre Edun, Tola Banjo, Gbeleyi, Muse Lamidi and Mrs Dewunmi Onanuga.

Alternativeafrica.com has been told that Chief Tolu Odebiyi, Amosun’s former Chief of staff, Lanre Edun and one other top aide who have been branded APC top loyalists were  the principal target of the purge

Nigeria’s current electoral act stipulates that anyone contesting for one position or the other must vacate their appointive position not less than 30 days before election

Curiously, Segun Bamiwola and Mrs Sola Arobieke who are not contesting any position but considered to be APC loyalists were  added to the list

Interestingly, the Deputy governorship candidate of the APM and the Commissioner for Agriculture, Peju Adebajo, the Secretary to the State government, Taiwo Adeoluwa,  the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Dayo Adeneye, DG Lands, Biyi Ismail and the Commissioners for Forestry and Education, Kola Lawal and Mrs Mujota as well as the Chairman of Local Government Service Commission, Rotimi Rahman who are all running for one office or the other on the platform of APM were left out of those forced out of government

Their exclusion from the list raised eyebrow painting the move as specifically designed to get at some targeted people who may have fallen out of favour with the governor

Our highly placed source told Alternativeafrica.com that despite repeated denials and assurances the Ogun state governor, Ibikunle Amosun gave president Buhari about his commitment and loyalty to APC, the governor is the sole financier of APM and he is ready to fire any of his cabinet member who is seen to be committed or has any sympathy for APC

The source added that some cabal loyal to Amosun who were dissatisfied with the way the governor was treated by the National Working Committee of APC were behind the massive purge and are determined to be ruthless in the coming days of any party members who refuse to move to APM

What is however not clear is where the latest move of the governor and his cronies leave the second term agenda of president Buhari in their divide and rude tactics.
