Alleged plot to undermine Tinubu in Rivers State uncovered — Sources

An alleged plan to sabotage President Bola Tinubu’s political interests in Rivers State has reportedly been uncovered, according to sources familiar with security briefings.

The allegations centre on Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara and claims that, prior to his reported defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC), he held meetings with key figures associated with the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the state. Those reportedly involved in the alleged meetings include former Rivers State governor Celestine Omehia, former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Austin Opara, former PDP National Chairman Uche Secondus, and political figure Lee Mabea.

According to the claims, the group allegedly agreed that Governor Fubara would join the APC as part of a strategy to destabilise the party from within, while covertly advancing the interests of the ADC in Rivers State. The plan allegedly included financial support for the ADC while operating under the APC platform.

Sources further claimed that a security report detailing the alleged plot was forwarded to the Presidential Villa, prompting heightened scrutiny of those involved. Celestine Omehia was reportedly suspected of leaking details of the alleged arrangement to a former associate in the southern part of the country, though no official confirmation has been made.

As of the time of filing this report, neither Governor Fubara nor the individuals named in the allegations have issued public statements in response. Government authorities and security agencies have also not officially commented on the matter.

The development has, however, intensified political tensions in Rivers State, with observers calling for transparency and caution as investigations, if any, unfold.
