Akpabio Urges South-South APC to Lead Tinubu’s 2027 Vote Drive
President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has called on stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the South-South to mobilise massive support for the re-election of Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027.
Akpabio made the appeal on Wednesday during the APC South-South Zonal Congress held in Asaba, Delta State, where governors from the six states in the region were in attendance.
He expressed appreciation to the President and the APC leadership for giving the South-South a sense of inclusion, noting that the zone had not produced a Senate President since the era of Joseph Wayas over four decades ago.
According to him, the party has demonstrated goodwill towards the region, which he said has been reciprocated through growing support and alignment with the APC.
Reflecting on the party’s progress in the region, Akpabio noted that the APC previously had only one governor in the South-South but has now expanded its influence across all six states. He attributed this growth to consistent leadership within the zone, particularly under Victor Giadom.
He urged party members to remain united and competitive, challenging them to ensure the South-South delivers the highest number of votes for the APC in the next general election.
Also speaking, the Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, described the gathering as a significant milestone, stressing that the region’s unity under one political platform signals readiness for future electoral contests.
Oborevwori emphasised the need for sustained cohesion, grassroots engagement, and organisational strength across all levels of the party.
The congress culminated in the emergence of a new South-South zonal executive through consensus, with Giadom re-elected as National Vice Chairman for the region alongside other key officials.
