Akpabio Commissions Schools, Roads, Water Scheme, Other Projects in Akwa Ibom’s Ika LGA
Senate President Godswill Obot Akpabio has commissioned a series of educational and infrastructure projects in Ika Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, aimed at improving access to quality education and enhancing public infrastructure.
The projects were inaugurated on his behalf by his wife, Ekaette Unoma Akpabio, during a ceremony attended by government officials, traditional rulers, political leaders, community representatives, women, youths and residents of the council.
Speaking at the event, Ika Local Government Chairman, Utibe Nwoko, described the occasion as another milestone in the area’s development, saying the Senate President’s interventions had brought significant improvements to communities across the council.
He said the projects had enhanced living conditions for residents and pledged that the local government and the people would protect and maintain the facilities to ensure they serve future generations.
Nwoko also reaffirmed the support of the people of Ika for President Bola Tinubu, Senate President Akpabio, Akwa Ibom State Governor Pastor Umo Eno and other candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections.
Representing the Senate President, Mrs. Akpabio commended the council chairman for prioritising projects that directly impact the lives of residents, particularly in the education and infrastructure sectors.
She stressed that improved schools and modern public infrastructure remain essential for sustainable development and urged residents to safeguard the completed projects for the benefit of future generations.
Among the projects commissioned were Ika Comprehensive School, St. Augustine Secondary School, Ikot Inwang Road, the Ika Local Government Headquarters and a pipe-borne water scheme at St. Augustine Secondary School, alongside other completed projects designed to improve education, public service delivery and access to essential amenities.
The commissioning highlights the Senate President’s continued investment in development projects across Ika Local Government Area, with a focus on expanding educational opportunities, strengthening infrastructure and improving the socio-economic well-being of residents.
Before the inauguration, Mrs. Akpabio paid a courtesy visit to the Paramount Ruler of Ika Local Government Area, Joseph Okosi III, where she received royal blessings ahead of the event.
The traditional ruler praised the Senate President for his developmental initiatives in the area and offered prayers for lasting peace, unity and continued progress in Ika Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State and the country.
