Akpabio Celebrates Sultan of Sokoto at 70

….Hails Legacy of Peace and Statesmanship

President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio, has congratulated the Sultan of Sokoto and President-General of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), His Eminence Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, CFR, mni, on his 70th birthday.

Akpabio, in a congratulatory message issued through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Hon. Eseme Eyiboh, described the Sultan as an exemplary statesman whose life has been marked by service, wisdom, faith and a strong commitment to Nigeria’s peace, unity and progress.

The Senate President commended the Sultan’s distinguished reign, saying his leadership has consistently demonstrated grace, courage, wisdom and a deep sense of responsibility to the nation.

“Your reign as the Sultan of Sokoto has been defined by grace, statesmanship and an unwavering commitment to peace, unity and national cohesion. At 70, you remain a father to all and a moral compass for our nation,” Akpabio said.

He praised the Sultan for building bridges across Nigeria’s diverse communities and for his advocacy for good governance, peaceful coexistence, national unity and the dignity and welfare of Nigerians.

Akpabio also acknowledged the monarch’s contributions to interfaith dialogue, peaceful coexistence and national reconciliation, noting that his voice of wisdom and moderation remains particularly important at a time when Nigeria needs greater understanding, tolerance and unity.

According to him, the Sultan’s 70th birthday provides an opportunity to celebrate not only his age but also the lasting impact of his leadership and service to the nation.

On behalf of his family, constituents and members of the 10th Senate, Akpabio prayed Almighty Allah to grant the Sultan many more years in good health, wisdom and strength to continue his service to the Ummah and Nigeria.

“As you mark this significant milestone, may Almighty Allah continue to preserve, strengthen, and bless you with many more years of good health and fulfilment. May your reign continue to be a source of peace, wisdom and inspiration to the Ummah and to our beloved Nigeria,” he said.

Akpabio wished the Sultan a happy 70th birthday and prayed for continued blessings and preservation in his service to humanity and the nation.
