Akpabio Assures Nigerians Insecurity Will Soon End

…Pledges Senate’s Support for Women’s Golf

President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has expressed confidence that the country’s security challenges will soon be overcome, assuring Nigerians that the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is taking decisive steps to restore peace across the nation.

Akpabio gave the assurance on Wednesday while receiving members of the Ladies Golf Association of Nigeria, led by its National President, Dr. Lima Ahmed, during a courtesy visit to his office at the National Assembly.

According to a statement issued by his Special Assistant on Media, Jackson Udom, the Senate President said the Federal Government remains fully committed to tackling insecurity and protecting lives and property.

He noted that the recent rescue of abducted schoolchildren in Oyo State reflects the administration’s determination to confront criminality and improve national security.

“The current administration is doing a whole lot, and I can assure you that very soon, the issue of insecurity will become a thing of the past,” Akpabio said.

He also urged Nigerians to be cautious about information circulated on social media, arguing that such reports do not always present an accurate picture of developments in the country.

The Senate President further spoke on women’s participation in politics, attributing the reluctance of many women to support one another during elections to the negative experiences created by some female office holders who failed to justify the confidence reposed in them.

He encouraged women to continue striving for greater representation in leadership while fostering unity and mutual support.

Akpabio also pledged the backing of the Senate for the forthcoming international Ladies Golf Tournament scheduled to hold at the IBB International Golf and Country Club in Abuja.

Earlier, the National President of the Ladies Golf Association of Nigeria, Dr. Lima Ahmed, thanked the Senate President for receiving the delegation and formally invited him to the tournament.

As part of the visit, the association decorated Akpabio as its Grand Patron in recognition of his support for women’s golf in Nigeria.
