Africa Rugby Sevens: Nigeria Black Stallions qualify for semifinal, thrash Niger, Benin, and Algeria

The Nigeria’s Rugby national team, the Black Stallions began their campaign at the ongoing Africa Rugby Regional Sevens Tournament in Ivory Coast on a good note after thrashing Niger, Benin and Algeria on day one of the tournament.
With this development, the Coach Bronson Gabriel Weir tutored lads have qualified for the tomorrow semifinal against Burkina Faso Rugby team having topped the group A with maximum points with no point scored against.
The tournament which kicked off on Saturday, September 15 – 17, 2018 in Abidjan, is an all important 3 – In – 1 tournament that serves as qualifiers for Africa Rugby Pre-Olympic qualifiers; All Africa Games qualifiers, and Africa Rugby 15’s Bronze Cup qualifier is featuring eight rugby playing countries at the event.
The African tourney was watched by the African Rugby President, Mr. Abdulazeez Bhouja, and other dignitaries across the continent.
To achieve these feat, the highly determined Nigeria’s team made mince of Niger Republic 24 points to nil in the first game of the day before whitewashing Benin Republic by 31 points to nil in the second game.
However, Algeria, who also qualified with Nigeria for the last four against the host, Ivory Coast, have her unbeaten record at the tournament came to an abrupt end when she met her waterloo in the hands of the Black Stallions who pummeled them with 10 points to nil.
Moreover, Nigeria heroes at the event were applauded by the coaching crew that comprises of Williams Ntiense Okon – Team Manager, Bronson Gabriel Weir – Head Coach, and Dr Bukola Bojuwoye – Team Doctor
Meanwhile, other countries taken part at the three days tournament are Niger, Burkina Faso, Benin Republic, Mali, Algeria, Guinea, and host Ivory Coast.
Nigeria needs to win this tournament to return to where it was before the suspension last year.
