AFN Clconcludes probe of 16 officers, prepares Court-Martial for alleged misconduct
The Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) has wrapped up investigations into allegations of indiscipline and violations of service rules involving 16 officers, with several of them set to be tried by military judicial panels.
The Director of Defence Information, Major-General Samaila Uba, disclosed this in a statement issued on Monday in Abuja.
He recalled that the Defence Headquarters (DHQ) had announced the arrest of the officers in October 2025, adding that the probe has now been completed in accordance with established military procedures and existing regulations.
According to Uba, the investigation thoroughly reviewed the circumstances surrounding the conduct of the affected personnel and established that some of the officers have cases to answer, including allegations linked to attempts to undermine the government.
He stressed that such actions run contrary to the ethics, core values and professional standards of the Armed Forces of Nigeria.
“Consequently, officers found culpable will be formally charged and arraigned before appropriate military judicial panels in line with the Armed Forces Act and other relevant service regulations,” he said.
Uba explained that the ongoing process is strictly disciplinary, describing it as part of internal mechanisms aimed at maintaining discipline, unity and operational efficiency within the military.
He further reaffirmed the AFN’s commitment to professionalism, loyalty and adherence to constitutional authority, assuring Nigerians that due process and fairness will guide all stages of the proceedings.
