Adoke breaks down with spinal pains in EFCC custody
Nigeria’s former attorney-general of the federation, Mohammed Bello Adoke, SAN, may need to be hastily attended to at a health facility as he was said to be nursing severe spinal pains in the custody of the economic and financial crimes commission (EFCC).
Adoke was arrested by the Interpol for debriefing on Thursday in Abuja, moments after he returned to Nigeria from Dubai and was later handed over to the EFCC. He has since been undergoing interrogation on the sale of the $1.06b Malabu oil block.
But the interrogation had to be suspended on Saturday following his complaint of severe pains.
Depending on his health status, the interrogation is likely to resume today (Sunday). Doctor’s verdict on his condition would also play a role in determining if he would continue to be grilled.
His counsel, Mike Ozekhome, SAN is said to be working on getting the ex-AGF an administrative bail, and getting him transferred to a medical facility. He is expected to submit a formal letter on his demands on Monday when it may be considered on merit.
