Adesanya-Davies Reacts at NANS President’s Comrade  Isah’s Viral Video

A former Presidential Candidate, Professor  Funmilayo Adesanya-Davies, a member of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU),  also a Patron to the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has reacted to the NANS President, Comrade Atiku Abubakar Isah’s Viral Video and reports on an alleged claim of assault by President Bola Tinubu’s son, Seyi Tinubu.

Adesanya-Davies in a Press statement in Port Harcourt reinstated that, “According to Comrade Isah:

“I was abducted on the 15th of April, 2025. I was stripped naked, beaten seriously in collaboration with the MD of NTA … I did that to gain my freedom, but immediately, I released a press statement that I was forced under duress. Because I was naked, I was beaten. They claimed they would share the video,” he alleged.

He further accused unnamed individuals of threatening to cover up any potential fallout, even suggesting that his life could be taken with no consequences.

“They told me that nothing would happen if they shared the video, and even if they killed me, Seyi Tinubu would order a cover-up. Ladoja, who was involved, said he would instruct the Inspector General of Police to cover it up and that if the police didn’t comply, he would go,” Atiku said.

“I made it clear that even if I am shot, I will still come to this hall. The inauguration proceeded, and I was announced as president. I want Nigerians to know what has happened and that we will not give up. Seyi Tinubu can do anything he wants, but we are determined.”

“He said all happened because he rejected the offer promote President Tinubu, stating that, “He could not promote a president who had not delivered results. He claimed that, upon refusal, plans were made to abduct him.”

Adesanya-Davies reacted,
“If the story were anything to go by and true and this ever happened, it must not be brushed aside and neglected because it is not only a belittlement to the apex body of the Nigerian students, in the country, but an indictment to ASUU and a disgrace to the entire nation as well. As such, all well meaning Nigerians would have to urgently investigate into the matter and speak up to dismiss, ascertain or condemn the incidence.”

Adesanya-Davies urges Seyi Tinubu to be truthful over the alleged NANS interference and subsequent assault of Atiku Abubakar Isah, and be accountable, because Nigerians are watching! In the academic community injury to one is injury to all and Aluta continua!

It is however notable, in another parallel report captioned, “Seyi Tinubu denies ‘bribing, abducting, torturing’ NANS president,” that Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu, has refuted allegations made by the President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Comrade Atiku Abubakar Isah, describing them as an attempt to defame his character.

Reacting in an Instagram post on Friday, Seyi stated, “Wow .. how can someone lie with so much confidence…??? Wow wow… an attempt to defame my character. May God be with you, Comrade Atiku Isah.”

In another post, he added, “I have never held a meeting to discuss any subject matter with Comrade Isah in Lagos or anywhere else in the world. I have never knowingly met him before. Neither did I visit any location with thugs.”

“All these allegations made by Atiku Isah are completely fictional.”

Adesanya-Davies opines, “I wish Seyi’s reactions were nothing but the truth!!! And that settles it!”

This response followed claims made by Isah during a press conference on Wednesday, in which he alleged that Seyi Tinubu and Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, offered him a N100 million bribe in Lagos to promote the president.

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) is a prominent student organization and the apex body of Students in Nigeria. It represents the interests of students across the country, advocating for their welfare, rights, and educational needs.

NANS plays a significant role in Student advocacy, speaking out on issues affecting students, such as funding, infrastructure, and security. Policy influence: engaging with government officials and policymakers to shape education policies and

Student support, by providing support to students, including assistance with academic, social, and economic challenges, amongst various other functions.

Overall, NANS is a vital voice for students in Nigeria, therefore, if it were true, we condemn, in the strongest terms, the alleged assault on its President, Comrade Atiku Abubakar Isah. The disturbing video that went viral, detailing the alleged abduction and assault of Comrade Isah, is a stark reminder of the impunity that still plagues our society if it were true.

“Thus, there should be a thorough investigation into this incident and call for the perpetrators to be brought to justice. No individual, regardless of their status, should be subjected to such treatment. The alleged involvement of Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu, raises serious concerns about the abuse of power and privilege.” Adesanya-Davies added.

We stand in solidarity with Comrade Isah and demand that his rights be protected. We urge the authorities to take immediate action to ensure that those responsible for this heinous act are held accountable.

Key Demands include: Immediate investigation into the incident; Prosecution of those responsible; Protection of Comrade Isah’s rights and safety, as well as, Accountability from the authorities.

“No one stands idly while the rights of thier leaders are being trampled upon. Therefore there must be demand for justice and accountability from those in power!” Adesanya-Davies insists.
