Adeleke quits PDP, cites leadership crisis in resignation letter
Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has officially withdrawn his membership from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), according to a statement released by his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed.
His resignation, effective November 4, 2025, was conveyed in a letter addressed to the PDP Chairman of Ward 2, Sagba Abogunde, in Ede North Local Government Area. In the letter personally signed by the governor, Adeleke linked his exit to the persistent crisis plaguing the party’s national leadership.
“Due to the current crisis within the national leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), I hereby resign my membership of the PDP with immediate effect,” he wrote.
Governor Adeleke also expressed appreciation to the party for providing him the platform that propelled his political rise—from serving as Senator for Osun West to becoming Governor of Osun State.
“I thank the Peoples Democratic Party for the opportunities given to me for my elections as a Senator (Represented Osun West) and as Governor of Osun State,” he noted.
The statement did not reveal Adeleke’s next political direction, leaving analysts and supporters awaiting his next move on the evolving political landscape.
