Aba Sports Club Hosts Historical 1936 Group Golf Tourney on Saturday

History will be made on Saturday at Aba Sports Club 1926 Golf Section as the maiden edition of 1936 Group Golf Tournament tees-off at the club course, GRA, Aba, Abia State.
With this historical event commencing on Friday February 14th, 2020 with the arrival, registration and cocktail party for golfers for the tournament, the Saturday golfing actions will definitely tee-off from 7am till 10am while the closing and presentation of prizes has been fixed to begin from 3pm.
The emergence of this group golf tourney is behind no any other person than the immediate past president of the club, Mazi Jude Nnamdi Nwosu, whose is bankrolling the event for golfers across the South-East States and other parts of the country to have a taste of hospitality of the Aba Sports Club golf course.
According to the Captain of the golf section, Sir Jonathan Oguejiofor in a chat with Daily Dispatch, he narrated that the sponsor’s, Mazi Jude Nwosu has done his part, while the onus now lies with the golf section management to so their best, in which they cannot afford to disappoint.
Furthermore, the Captain remarked that all necessary things needed to be done for the successful hosting of the tournament have been put in place by respective committees in readiness for the keen competition at their 18 holes golf course.
He added: ‘We are expecting about 150 golfers across the country to come enjoy the game of golf in our all green 18 holes Aba golf course. The tournament is sponsored by Mazi Jude Nnamdi Nwosu – Ugwu Aro, the immediate past president of Aba Sports Club 1926.
“Mazi Nwosu is a man of honour and this every member can attest to his leadership quality during his tenure as president of this our great club. His administration brought the club into international limelight, and a sought after club by other clubs in the whole of South-East States and other parts of Nigeria too.
“There is no doubt that this tournament will be better organised by the golf section to justify the confidence reposed upon by the sponsor’s, who also is the Managing Director of Crunches.”
Similarly, the Captain also called Nwakaibeya noted that golfers from Arsenal Golf club, Owerri; Golf clubs from Port Harcourt, Enugu; Ibori Golf and Country Club (IGCC), Asaba; IBB International Golf and Country Club, Abuja, and among others are taking part.
“All the categories such as ladies and men’s category, veteran men and ladies, super veteran men and ladies will tee-off at the event. Also, the Professional golfers game will be by invitational.
“Ladies handicap 29-36 will be a separate category to tee off with their group and will have their own prizes. While ladies hcp 0-28 will tee off and will play on their different categories for prizes. We are going to give four prizes in each categories,” Nwakaibeya said.
