A Peek Into Gorgeous Golding’s Mind™: Reintroducing Yourself To Yourself
EPISODE 008
By Gorgeous Golding™
I know successful people who still struggle with self-confidence.
People with fractured personalities. People who have worked hard, built success, acquired wealth, and yet still struggle with low self-esteem.

Which proves something important:
Confidence is not just a product of hard work. It is deeply connected to your inner self and your understanding of who you ought to be.
Because some people can achieve great things and still feel like they are not enough. This is largely because they have lost touch with their inner self. Sometimes, it could be because of childhood trauma. Sometimes, rejection and heartbreak. Sometimes, betrayal. Sometimes, failure. These experiences sometimes trigger a strong sense of insecurity in them.
What a lot of people call confidence now is mostly an adopted, socially performative script of another person’s appearance and mannerisms, like some unconscious psychological replacement mechanism for what was missing.
A lot of people are genuinely walking around with borrowed personalities. And instead of tracing the problem to its root, they would rather hide behind some maladaptive coping mechanism that keeps pulling them away from themselves.
Avoiding any problem has never solved it. So, you start by acknowledging the problem.
And that is why affirmations matter.
Not because they magically change your life overnight, but because they slowly reintroduce you to yourself.
They rewire your thinking. They bring possibility back into your consciousness.
The mirror is a reflection of how you see yourself. To create a new image, you have to tell it what you want to see when you look at it.
Personally, I think it’s best to see an injured version of yourself each time you look in the mirror rather than look beyond a masked-up but still injured version of yourself.
Until you start seeing yourself for what you are, you’ll keep missing every opportunity you can get to heal because you’re still too busy servicing an image that isn’t yours.
Be honest with yourself.
Show yourself some empathy.
And just like the mirror, the world is also a reflection of how you see yourself.
When you repeatedly tell yourself, “I am beautiful,” your mind slowly begins to search for beauty within you. You begin to notice things you once ignored.
That is what affirmations do.
They create the mental atmosphere where confidence can grow.
Affirmations do not give you the result. They prepare your mind for the result.
Truth is, without consciousness and desire, even when one has what it takes, they cannot become it.
You have it. Your inner self may have been broken, but it’s not stolen. Stop ignoring yourself for another.
It can only get better if you let it.
