A Nigerian, Joseph Dada elected Vice President (WA) AAPAM
The African Association for Public Administration and Management (AAPAM) in collaboration with the Government of Botswana held its 39th Annual Round-Table Conference (RTC) with the theme “Innovation, Resourcefulness, Integration and Inclusivity: Fundamentals for the Transformation of Governance and Public Administration in Africa to achieve the Agenda 2063 and Sustainable Development Goals” between 6th to 9th November, 2018 in Gaborone, Botswana.
This year’s prestigious Annual Round-Table Conference was attended by a total of 500 delegates drawn from all over Africa and beyond. Prominent among the delegates were Ministers for Public Services, Cabinet Secretaries/Secretaries to Government, Heads of Public/Civil Services, Permanent Secretaries, Director-Generals, Heads of various Government MDAs’ at National and sub-National levels, Academia, Researchers, representatives of regional and international organisations/agencies such as the Africa Union, United Nations, Economic Commission of Africa (ECA), IPAC, Deliotte, International Institute for Administrative Studies (IIAS), etc.
One of the major highlight of this year’s Round-Table Conference (RTC) was the conduct of elections by the Botswana Electoral Commission into various elective offices of the organisation, such as the office of the President, Deputy President, five (5) regional Vice Presidents, etc.
At the end of the elections, Nigeria’s Mr. Joseph Olugbenga Dada, was elected as the Vice President (West Africa). Prior to his election, Mr. Dada had served the Continental body as a Council Member representing Individual members in the Council since 2002. During this period Mr. Dada served in various Committees. Mr. Dada is presently a Director of Studies with the Administrative Staff College of Nigeria (ASCON).
Mr. Dada work experience cut across both the private and public sector organisations. Before joining the Faculty of ASCON in 1996, Mr. Dada worked in the private sector as a Marketer, ICT Consultant and Human Resource/Administrative Officer. Mr. Dada is a seasoned Administrator, a Public Affairs and Development Management Analyst of international repute.
Mr. Dada was born in Lagos on May 30th 1969. He had his early education in Lagos – Government Demonstration Primary School and State Grammar School, both in Surulere. He also attended University of Maiduguri, Borno State and Lagos State University, Ojo, where he obtained a B.Sc Hons (Economics) and an M.Sc (Environmental Resource Management) respectively. In addition, Mr. Dada obtained a Graduate-Diploma (Corporate Management) and a Diploma in Data Programming and Processing from the Nigeria Institute of Administration and AusChris Computers, Kaduna.
Mr. Dada has served as a Consultant/Resource Persons to various international, regional and national organisations including the UNDP, COMSEC, ECOWAS, World Bank- sponsored Projects such LEEMP, CSDP, PSGRP, etc. He has presented over 30 peer-reviewed International Conference papers. In addition, he has contributed to numerous academic books and journals.
Mr. Dada is married to Titi. The marriage is blessed with children: Tolu, Seun, Funmi and Ibukun.
