@ 80 golf tournament tees-off

Benin City will agog for the Chief Odigie-Oyegun @ 80 Golf Tournament teeing-off today (Saturday, August 10th, 2019) at the Benin club golf course, GRA, Benin City.
Nigeria’s amateur golfers from Ikoyi Club, Ikeja golf club, UBTH golf Club, Ogunnu Golf Resort, Warri; Ibori Golf and Country Club, Asaba; Sapele Athletics golf club , among others will join their counterparts from BCGS.
BCGS, competition secretary, Dr. Emmanuel Ighodaro stated that the tournament organised by the State government in honour of Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, the immediate past National Chairman, All Progressives Congress (APC) will feature over 150 golfers.
Furthermore, Ighodaro expressed that Chief Oyegun records as former governor of the state, and as immediate past National Chairman of APC, is worth celebrating. “He has distinguished himself in all fields of politics. He is a pride of Edo State, whose contributions to sports are immeasurable.
“This tournament is put together by the state government as part of the 80th birthday celebration, while other activities include church service on Monday, August 12th and gala night dinner.
“It is based on his antecedents that Edo State government deems it fit to celebrate him having attain the group of octogenarian. It’s the Lord’s doing, and it is marvelous to celebrate an icon of good governance in Edo State and Nigeria in general
“Governor Godwin Obaseki and his deputy, Rt. Hon. Philip Shaibu will play alongside Chief Oyegun, while his friends and associates across the country will feature too. The tournament tee-off time is 6:30am, but the ceremonial tee-off is slated for 9:00am
“Presentation of trophies and prizes for winners in various categories will hold later during the dinner ceremony.”
