4 deaths, 36 injuries recorded within a week in Ogun State-TRACE

Within a week in Ogun State, four persons were reportedly dead, while thirty six others had various degrees of injuries in fourteen different auto crashes across the state.
The figure was given out by Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE) in a statement made available to newsmen by its Director, Planning, Research and Statistics, Babatunde Ajayi, in Abeokuta on Saturday.
Babatunde, confirmed that between October 6th and 12th, 2019, these accidents involved three private cars, two private buses, four commercial cars, two motorcycles, one commercial bus, one medium truck and two heavy trucks.
Furthermore, he stressed: “63 persons were involved in the crashes, out of which 36 persons, that is 19 males and 17 females sustained various degrees of injuries, four persons, three males, and a female were killed, while 23 others were rescued unhurt by the agency.
“45.73% of the accidents were caused by excessive speed. 22.84% by dangerous driving; 9.80% as a result of bad tyres; 2.45% was through driving against the traffic, just as 19.18% by other causes.
“During this period under review, 44 motor vehicles and 25 motorcycles were apprehended for 88 various offences, while the above report was witnessed by TRACE Corps in areas covered only.
“Our resolve to reduce deaths and injuries on our roads in the state is being pursued vigorously and relentlessly such that no traffic offender shall go unpunished.
“TRACE Corps Commander, Seni Ogunyemi, appreciated the unflinching support of the traffic whistle blowers throughout the state for their prompt information whenever there was any crash on the roads. He appealed to the motoring public to obey all traffic rules and remember that the road is patient, but does not forgive.”
