300 youths for Skill-Up Edge acquisition programme

To encourage skill and promote sustainable youth entrepreneurship, a Non-Governmental Organisation,  Skill-Up Edge is organising a skill acquisition programme for youths in Ogun State and its environ.
The programme being organised by Laddy Edify and Company (LAEC), and APGC is supported by Ogun State House of Assembly and many others has registered no fewer than three hundred youths that will learn various entrepreneurial skills such as cake making, furniture, agriculture, web design, film production, and among others.
The convener of the programme, Amb. Johnson Shoyoye, Chief Operating Officer (COO), LAEC in his welcome address at the opening ceremony held at Youth Development Centre, Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL), Abeokuta, Ogun State capital, he stated that the skill acquisition programme was birth out of the passion and seal to serve humanity.
He noted: “It is to create a very sustainable impact and desire to see a better society where youth are fully gainfully engaged, less dependent, productive and where employment rate is very low in our dear country.
“It’s obvious and arguably that many of our graduates and youths often look for white collar jobs that is currently unavailable except very few which is less than one percent of the graduates evey year.
“This has greatly contribute to the unemployment rate in our society hence posses a very high security risk and over stretching the responsibilities of the government.
“This programme is designed in three sessions, The first session is the opening ceremony on Wednesday and Thursday. The second session is the further training period which may tarry to three months of extensive practical training to the participants by the facilitators/partners which will be a periodically supervised by the team of Skill-Up Edge and sponsors.
“While the third session is the one day branding and digital marketing training that will come up after the training period which will also  be the certification session to the participants.
“It is our believe that upon completing these sessions, The participants must have skilled up their edges and minds and be independent to fetch for themselves without depending on anyone just like our wonderful, beautiful and radiant facilitators/partners.”
In the same vein, Hon. Prince Olusola Adams, Deputy Chief Whip, Ogun Assembly in his admonition urged the participants to be serious and avail themselves of the opportunity attached to the programme throughout the sessions.
Hon. Adams ably represented by Bayo Odifa hereby lauded the organisers of the skill acquisition programme that would change the future of entrepreneurial in the state.
“This is a very fantastic programme that has to do with the youth it is not something that should be taken with a hand of levity. This programme is a good platform to actually brings youths together, to enlighten them, and to project proper into the future.
“The administration of Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun is a lover of youths. And I am sure the governor and of course the assembly will be willing to partner with the youths with lofty ideas that can actually move Ogun State to the next level.
“My appeal goes to other organisations in the state, they should come up with something of this magnitude to actually engage the youths so that they can move this state to where it properly belongs,” he concluded.
