25th ANAN Conference: Invest in Technology for Your Operations – Nami

Executive Chairman, Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) and Chairman of the 25th ANAN conference opening ceremony, Mr. Muhammad M. Nami has enjoined Accounting bodies and Professional Accountants to invest in technology to drive their operations and examinations in the wake of global disruptions like the COVID-19 pandemic which has created a new normal of living.

He also used the opportunity to informed the participants that receipts from various forms of taxes account for 60% of govt revenue while sales of crude oil and others account for 40% in the last few months. He also implored professional accountants to have integrity as their watch word and stop cutting corners in their operations.

The ANAN President and Chairman of Council, Prof. Muhammad Akaro Mainoma, n his welcome address, advised Accounting professionals to aspire for effective adaptation with Disruptive tendencies in the profession and reflect on value creation, value addition, value measurement, value evaluation, value reporting, value assessment and value sustainability.

The keynote address was delivered virtually by the Honourable Minister of Communication and Digital Economy, Dr. Isa Ali Pantami, He described Disruptive Technologies as part of policies designed for Nigeria’s digital economy.

He urged Accountants to deploy values of artificial intelligence, blockchain technology, cloud computing, data analytics and educational technology in broadening security and integrity of financial data.
