Bishop Prof Funmilayo Adesanya-Davies extends heartfelt Christmas greetings to people of goodwill across the world as Christians commemorate the birth of Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace.
The birth of Christ stands as a divine message of peace, reconciliation, and hope for a troubled world. The Scriptures proclaim:
“For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given… and His name shall be called… The Prince of Peace.” — Isaiah 9:6
Christmas reminds humanity that peace is not merely the absence of war, but the presence of justice, righteousness, love, and moral renewal. At the very moment of Christ’s birth, heaven announced God’s agenda for the earth:
“Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, goodwill toward men.” — Luke 2:14
In this spirit, the core message of UN-POLAC this Christmas season is clear and urgent: Merry Christmas — Be Born Again for Peace.
Jesus declared:
“Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” — John 3:3
To be born again is to accept our Lord Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour, undergo a transformation of the heart and mind — a rebirth that produces peaceable conduct, tolerance, compassion, integrity, and respect for human dignity. It is a call to reject violence, hatred, injustice, corruption, and extremism, and to embrace dialogue, forgiveness, equity, and peaceful coexistence.
Christ Himself affirmed the blessedness of peacebuilders:
“Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.” — Matthew 5:9
As a global organization committed to peace advocacy, positive leadership, good governance, and sustainable livelihoods, UN-POLAC calls on world leaders, institutions, and citizens to allow the spirit of Christmas to guide policies, decisions, and actions that promote harmony among nations and communities.
In a world increasingly marked by conflict, displacement, insecurity, and social fragmentation, the Christmas message offers enduring hope:
“The light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.” — John 1:5
UN-POLAC prays that this Christmas season will inspire sincere reconciliation, mutual understanding, and a renewed global commitment to peace rooted in justice and moral responsibility.
“Now the Lord of peace Himself give you peace always by all means.” — 2 Thessalonians 3:16
Merry Christmas to all people of goodwill.
Be Born Again — Be a Peacemaker.
