The Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal, has predicted that the Peoples Democratic Party will take over the six states of the Southwest in the 2023 elections.
Tambuwal said the victory of the party in Osun State was a prelude to PDP’s bid to take over the entire Southwest zone.
Tambuwal spoke on Wednesday as the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, his running mate , Ifeanyi Okowa, were holding meeting with party stakeholders from the Southwest in Ibadan.
The Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, and the Osun State governor-elect, Senator Ademola Adeleke; former Osun State Governor, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola and his Ondo State counterpart, Dr Olusegun Mimiko and other leaders of the party from the Southwest were also present at the meeting.
Tambuwal said, “What happened in Osun State recently is a sign of what to come. The Southwest is going to be delivered to the PDP come 2023.”
The National Chairman of the party, Senator Iyorchia Ayu, who was represented by Ambassador Umar Damagun, said PDP had nothing to fear in the coming polls and urged members to vote for the PDP.
Adeleke said Atiku was an integral part of the Southwest region and that he would win by the grace of God in 2023.
