2023: PDP Presidential ticket not to win but to win – Adesanya-Davies

The consensus candidate must not be an individual who cannot deliver by winning the over general elections. Result is the game! It’s no time for any zoning religious or tribal sentiments —Adesanya-Davies
A frontline politician, Princess Funmilayo Adesanya-Davies, the presidential candidate of Mass Action Joint Alliance (MAJA) in the 2019 election, and PDP female presidential aspirant in the up coming 2023 presidential election speaks up, loud and in clear terms on the embattling presidential primary ticket of Presidential candidate in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
On PDP PRESIDENTIAL TICKET matters arising, Prof. Funmilayo Adesanya–Davies insists to Opinion Nigeria, correspondent, “IT’S NOT TO WIN BUT TO FINALLY WIN.” The PDP PRESIDENTIAL TICKET must be on the terms of YOU WIN, WE WIN and not I WIN, YOU LOSE. The Consensus candidate must not be an individual who cannot deliver and perform by winning the overall general presidential election in 2023. It’s no time, playing games of zoning, religious or tribal sentiments of North/South dichotomy or Christian/Muslim divide, because the entire Nation is groaning and waiting for power to change hands from the APC Buhari-led failed administration, and PDP, the largest, oldest and most experienced party in the country must not be kidding to disappoint the entire nation, but must wake up to their responsibility, take charge and come to the rescue of Nigerians. We all know there are only two major parties in Nigeria and that’s no news. It’s time for PDP to save the nation, it’s time to make Nigeria great and make Nigeria work again,” she added.
She insists, re-ephazising, that the PDP PRESIDENTIAL TICKET IS NOW ALL ABOUT, ”NOT TO WIN BUT TO WIN,” speaking on the PDP PRESIDENTIAL TICKET matters arising, Prof. Funmilayo Adesanya–Davies says,, “IT’S NOT TO WIN BUT TO FINALLY WIN.” The PDP PRESIDENTIAL TICKET must be given on the terms of final delivery, of YOU WIN, WE WIN. The consensus candidate must not be an individual who cannot deliver by winning the over general elections. Result is the game! It’s no time for zoning religious or tribal sentiments of North/South dichotomy or Christian/Muslim divide or game of superiority, because the entire Nation is groaning and waiting for power to change hands from the APC-led Buhari’s administration, and the PDP, the largest, oldest and most experienced party in the nation must not disappoint them. “It’s time to save the nation, it’s time to make Nigeria work again, it’s time to CHANGE the change and get us the true change that we really need and so desires.”
We would recall, “Political parties have a relatively short amount of time to nominate and present their candidates to INEC or risk exclusion from the 2023 election. INEC insists that parties have from April 4 until June 3 to do this. “Where a political party fails to comply with the provisions of the Act in the conduct of its primaries, its candidate shall not be included in the election for the particular position in issue,” INEC said in a statement on April 5. In other words, there’s little time left for intra-party politicking.”
Adesanya-Davies speaks in the wake of the news report that, “Former Governor of Anambra state, Peter Obi, inched further to the realisation of his presidential ambition by emerging the favourite of the stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the South East for the May 28 Presidential primary election.”
Again, she speaks, as this in her veiw is that, “the winning of the final general presidential election by PDP would be fully dependent on whom they choose to put forth as the consensus candidate after the primary to finally wrestle power from the horrifying APC lazy and lousy administration and deliver Nigerians.
Ex-Governor Obi, the 2019 running mate to former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, who obtained his expression of interest and nomination forms a fortnight ago, joining ex-Senate President, Pius Anyim; businessman, Sam Ohuabunwa and medical practitioner turned politician, Nwachukwu Anakwenze from the South-East to indicate interest in the Office of the President on the platform of the PDP.
Last week, the four aspirants met in Abuja to begin preliminary talks over consensus; a development, that was reportedly well received by party leaders in the zone including Governors Okezie Ikpeazu and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Abia and Enugu states respectively. Vanguard reports that ahead of the primary election, state chapters of the party in Anambra, Enugu, Imo, Abia and Ebonyi are expected to meet and make presentations to a larger stakeholders meeting.
The report quoted a former governor of one of the South East states and member, National Executive Committee (NEC), of the PDP as saying in confidence that Obi’s widely acclaimed expertise in management of human and material resources is likely to tip the odds in his favour.
He said: “The insistence of our governors on Southern Presidency has further boosted the confidence of our people to keep pushing for a flag bearer of South-Eastern extraction. The fact that the aspirants themselves have agreed to work together is making things easier than envisaged.
“Party leaders from other zones advocating fairness have been calling, advising that the South-East put its house in order. They want us to put out best forward. No doubt, all of them are eminently qualified and competent to be President of this country. However, Peter Obi’s stewardship in Anambra has gotten everyone talking and that is certainly an edge. His business acumen and zero tolerance for wastes are issues party leaders have spoken to us about and they are the issues party chieftains from the zone are also talking about.
“At the appropriate time, our leaders will call on them to go about this in a friendly and brotherly manner. We are happy and proud of the fact that passion to make a difference in the life of our nation pushed them to join the race,” he said. While Governor Ikpeazu may be sympathetic to Ohuabunwa as they both hailed from Abia State; the source added that: “These sentiments have been dealt with. What is important is presenting someone whose ideas and personality would be easier to market to all Nigerians, not just South-Easterners alone.
“Like the title of a novel ‘This is our Chance,’ and it is incumbent upon us to make the most of it. Obi ticks the boxes now and he will represent everyone well.”
Thus, Adesanya-Davies calls on the women, the Youths, the HeForShe, as well as, all Nigerians to vote for the presidential candidate of PDP that would emerge as the next President come 2023 for safety and delivery. She is still in the ring, if she wins the PDP Presidential primary election. She asserts, “I have the vision, mission, dream, knowledge, drive, creativity and capacity and needed intelligence to reshape Nigeria with a feminine touch in grand style and lead the country to social, economic and political advancement and stability through her “PMA ADVANCED RESTRUCTURING AGENDA.”
“I have a dream that one day a woman will become the president of Nigeria to transform and the dream is now.” —Funmilayo Adesanya-Davies.
