2019 election not threatened by non-release of funds- INEC, says it has money to procure materials needed
The Independent National Electoral Commission INEC has allayed the fears of Nigeria over non release of funds for 2019 general election.
The Commission speaking through its Commissioner, Mustapha Lecky while featuring on a Channels Television programme, “Politics Today” said there money for them to carry out their activities ahead 2019 general elections.
According to Mr. Lecky the Commission has procure all valuable materials necessary for the conduct of next year’s general elections.
When asked if the non-signage of INEC budget is threatening the 2019 general elections, Lecky said; “We’re not threatened, not sacred nor affraid. All materials for the conduct of next year’s general elections have been procured.
According to him, they have a right to spend certain amount of money if the budget is not released on time.
On whether the continuous crisis rocking political parties will not affect the elections, Lecky also declared that it cannot, adding that whatever is happening within the political parties is purely party affairs, stressing that all INEC did was to monitor their primaries.
