2016 SACK PALAVA: NUT BEGS AMOSUN TO REINSTATE 3 TEACHERS YET TO BE PARDONED

Nigeria Union of Teachers,NUT, on Friday passionately begged Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun to reconsidered the reinstatement of three teachers who are yet to be forgiven alongside those pardoned by him, aftermath of crisis between government and workers.
It would be recalled that, the governor had descended heavily on the teachers sacking 34 of them for alleged participation in what was described as unprofessional conduct during the 2016 World Teachers Day Celebration in Abeokuta.
But, following much plea, the governor recalled 31 out of the 34 dismissed teachers, and left out 3 unpardoned till date, a development which remain worrisome for the union.
Addressing a press conference in Abeokuta, National President, of the union, Comrade Michael Olukoya gave names of yet to be pardoned teachers as include; Solomon Ilekoya(Ijebu-Ode Grammar School),Eniola Atiku(St Peter’s Primary School,Alapako-Oni) and Nola Balogun(Oke-Owa Primary School,Ikoto,Ijebu-Ode)
He said ‘They are yet to be pardoned by the Ogun State Government despite series of apologies and appeals on their behalf. NUT leadership believes in dialogue and appeals in a situation like this rather than litigation’.
The NUT boss said the body was remorseful and in total commitment to a repentant approach of pleas for pardon from government rather than toeing the arrogant path of muscle flexing and dragging of government to court.
His words ‘In our usual parlance,we shall not be tired of talking. Therefore,we appeal to Ogun State Government to open up discussion and dialogue with NUT national leadership for a peaceful resolution of the impasse’.
In a related development, the body appealed to the state government for the release of 7 months outstanding check-off dues for her constitutional, economic and social roles.
‘We have our high respect and regard to Ogun State Government in the payment of salaries to Ogun State Workers. We plead for full payment of salaries rather than net payment in vogue. We appeal to Ogun State Government to kindly release 7 months outstanding check off dues to NUT’
