164 residents benefit from Egbaland Humanitarian Development Council‘s free eye glasses

The Egbaland Humanitarian and Development Council (EHDC) has offered free eye examination and glasses to 164 beneficiaries, majority of them youths.

The the exercise, tagged ‘Jigi Alake’ took place at the Centenary Hall, Ake, Abeokuta, with number of residents, which also include parents in attendance to benefit from the gestures.

Medical personnel were not left out as they were seen attending to the patients religiously with necessary medications applied when and where necessary, and this also include: cataracts surgery and glaucoma medications.

TThe project offered 47 children eye glasses, while six of them have been penciled down for cataracts surgery, and one of them discovered to have glaucoma whose case has been assigned for medical attention.

The parents of the children were also beneficiaries of the project, as 67 of them went through screening and 50 of them offered free eye glasses, while some of the children and parents who spoke with Penpushing media expressed appreciation to the organization for restoring their eyes.

The Director General of the Development, Aare Jide Taiwo in his remarks explained that the gesture was part of the major focus of the council policy on health and education, adding that provision were made for 1,000 children.

The Director General, disclosed that the exercise was part of activities to mark the 35th Lisabi Day celebration, adding that, it is going to be continuous, thereafter, while noting that Egbaland Humanitarian and Development Council (EHDC) is a registered non-political, non- partisan organisation established for the purpose of development in Egbaland with first four years focus on Health and Education.

The Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo while speaking at the event encouraged parents to always release their children to benefit from humanitarian projects.

The royal father thanked and prayed for the Board of Directors of the organization, who were in attendance which include Chief Bode Mustapha (Chairman), Chief Tosin Fadare ( Vice Chairman), Aare Jide Taiwo (Director General), Prince Segun Ajibola (Director) and Mrs Anthonia Akinlawon (Director).

TThe mission statement and focus has it that the council annual educational goal is to give tuition fees scholarships to Egba youths so that they can have quality education and a better tomorrow, adding that with this they’ll be able to contribute their quota to the upliftment of Egbaland.
