‎GOLF CLUB TO BE INTRODUCE IN OGUN SCHOOLS

Abeokuta Golf Club has disclosed on Saturday its plan for establishment of clubs in secondary schools and tertiary institutions
Venerabe Olukunmi Adekunle,president of the club made this known at a press conference to herald the second edition of Olusegun Obasanjo Professional/Amateur Open Golf Tournament in Abeokuta.

Adekunle explained that, the project was parts of efforts to discover young talents that could represent both Ogun State and Nigeria at local and international competitions.

He stated further that, the club is working closely with the state government in achieving the objective, with some of its professionals already employed by the government.

‎The President said about 250 golfers have registered for the tournament, adding that the aim is to put the game of golf in Nigeria on the international map.
The Chairman  Board of Trustees Chairman of Abeokuta Golf Club, Justice Ademola Bakre,in a similar development  has dismissed the believe that the game of golf is for the elite.
The 80 year old golfer explained that the game can be played every member of the society without necessary spending huge amounts of money.
The retired jurist however appealed to parents and guardians to allow their children pick interest in the game, saying that this remains one of the ways to tackle the menace of unemployment confronting the country.
